 Why "Romeos"

"Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs, Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes, Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers' tears, What is it else? A madness most discreet, A choking Gall and a preserving sweet,"

William Shakespeare (1564-1616)
in Romeo and Juliet, act 1, scene 1

Hence, the tragedy of Romeo & Juliet stands pale to other mortal love. So, this is why we call ourselves Romeos - a name more often misunderstood and only to be construed as nothing else than a relentless quest for lust.

This conception of the name has been erroneously cross-linked to the persona of another being - Casanova. Romeo, within the context of the play is nothing less than a commitment to love as opposed to making it.
